It’s been a long time, but Nintendo Switch’s successor is finally revealed. Nintendo officially confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 through an exciting trailer that reveals the hybrid keyboard, a plan for a Nintendo Direct on April 2 to provide more details, and very little else. This leaves enough that we still do not know about the new keyboard and a sea of rumors to pass. Here’s what we know.

What is called Switch 2’s?
It’s Switch 2! This is now official, which means that Nintendo avoids confusing conventions of previous systems like WII U and New Nintendo 3DS. This is the continuous system, the first to be counted simply in Nintendo’s history.
What is the date of release of switch 2?
Nintendo confirmed that Switch 2 will come out this year, without a stronger date than that. Perhaps it will not be until the beginning of the summer as the system announcement already fulfills the company’s previous promise to detect Switch 2 before the end of the current fiscal year (which ends in March). We will not take a closer look at Switch 2 while Nintendo Direct planned for April 2.
This gives Nintendo time to build hype, to create a Library of omission and developers and publishers of Woo not working in Switch 2 games behind closed doors. Before the announcement, six developers confirmed with the Spanish fans Nintenduo that Switch 2 will begin around June or July 2025. This time matches the original Switch announcement (October 2016) and launches (March 2017).

Will the key replace the current 2 switch?
Yes. Switch is the new circuit breaker, and the most unclear continuous system in the company’s history. Even the dance from Nes to Super Nes confused parents in the early 1990s. This time, it is very clear that switch 2 replaces key (1).
This does not mean that Nintendo will stop the selling of the original key. Generating updates like Switch 2 often include a tail at least one year, with the company that sells the previous system. This was the case with the 3DS and WII switch with Gamecube.

Will switch keep the same hybrid design?
Nintendo hit the gold with the key. It is a game keyboard that can operate at home in a dock or ongoing with Joy-Con attached to its sides, making it too flexible. Returning to a keyboard at home or hand game system would be annoying (though hand variants or only from keyboards like Nintendo Switch Lite are not out of question as alternative models).
Nintendo’s exciting video confirms that Switch 2 looks like a bigger, shiny device, complete with a bank of accused and Joy -con removed.
Accessor manufacturers have already begun to show controls and cases for Switch 2. Dbrand, manufacturers of Darkplates 2.0 for PlayStation 5, has announced the new Killswitch issue without details beyond a “Switch 2 killswitch”. Completely set a trailer Zengrip 2 at the end of last year, immediately removed it, and has a product site. At CES 2025, manufacturer Genki also showed intermittent accessories 2.

What are Switch 2 specifications?
We know nothing concrete about the interior of Switch 2, but if any supposed hardware flow is correct, it is significantly more powerful than its predecessor. This does not mean that it will be as powerful as Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X (and not even near PS5 Pro).
According to Brazilian Pokémon Pokémon Centroleaks And users in Famildards who recorded the transport record last year, Switch 2 will have 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1. This is a large jump over 4 GB/64 GB of the current system. Centroleaks also claims that the new circuit breaker will have an 8 -inch screen, which matches the exciting video showing the body growing up to become switch 2.
Another specific leaf leak at the beginning of last year says the new circuit breaker will have an eight-nuclear AR ARM Cortex-A78ae processor, a chip for mobile/automatic installations that are almost certainly not as powerful as AMD Zen 2 chips running PS5 and XSX. On the other hand, the same specific sheet cites 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage for the new hand, so both have to deal with salt grains. Other leaks suggest a 60W energy draw for the dock.
The system will have more power than its predecessor. However, this may mean that it is comparable to a steam deck, Playstation 4 Pro, or an Xbox One X (capable of 4K output). It can also use DLSS to mark over its weight class in the frame generation. Nintendo is not telling anyone yet, and none of the derived details fit together.
Image leaks from September 2024 were accompanied by a special summary that mentioned that Switch 2 would accommodate 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage, which matches previous stems. There has been not much specific flow since then, and no one who debuts those numbers.
The latest FCC records suggest Switch 2 will support Wi-Fi 6 for faster internet speed. The highest USB-C can upload the device, though we do not know if this is all it does. Switch 2 will also scan NFC figures, apparently to maintain amiibo compliance. This is all at the top of the other almost confirmed features of the hardware, such as optical sensors that return controllers into mice.

Change 2 games: What to expect?
A new mario card is a sure thing because it’s the only Nintendo game in the spotlight on the trailer. The track does not appear to be any of the 96 tracks in Mario 8 Deluxe card, and the character and card patterns also look different. Also, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was an updated version of a Wii U game, and Nintendo releasing a system emphasizing a shoot now two generations removed from its original version would be very strange.

The next legends of Pokemon Za, starting later this year in Switch 1, hopefully there will be 2 improvements. It is not a new generation Pokémon, but a continuation of a form in the Pokemon Legends side game: Arceus (who, along with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, suffered performance issues in the current circuit breaker). More power will mean better frame rates and more durable game.
Almost almost sure that Switch 2 will get new games Kirby, Mario and Zelda, though if any of them start with the system remains to be seen. Metroid Prime 4 is also a strong choice for an release of inter-gen interconnection, and improving the game for the new device can partially explain its long development time.

Will switch play 2 old switch games?
Yes! This is one of some difficult details Nintendo confirmed about Switch 2 even before it is officially announced. The harassers’ trailer confirms this, clearly saying that it plays both Switch 2 and the original switch games in digital and physical formats. Not every game will be compatible, but hopefully the exceptions will be scarce and far away.
As for the software, Nintendo confirmed earlier that he is holding the Nintendo account system, which must maintain digital game purchases in generations. Apparently, it means you can download OG Switch titles. Although Nintendo’s story with backward -based backward compatibility is strong, its backward digital compliance is not. It is difficult to track purchases between systems.

Will what will cost 2?
Nintendo explained that he does not want to compete directly with Microsoft or Sony in force or price. Currently, the base circuit breaker costs $ 300. Switch-i-Hunly Switch Lite costs $ 200, while Switch Oled costs $ 350. A well -known flow from Moighycharlie’s mode stated that the new circuit breaker will cost $ 400. This price can be increased if tariffs are approved for consumer electronics this year, but $ 400 seems reasonable for now.
According to a recent meeting of Nintendo’s investors, the company plans to “consider the affordable prices that consumers expect from Nintendo Products”, but there is no plan to adjust the SWITCH 2 price of what the company had previously planned. This statement comes from a translation of machinery by the Japanese, so keep in mind some details may have been lost or abused. If it is correct, however, the $ 400 price still looks like the most likely one.
Of course, this is all speculation until Nintendo confirms more details about the new circuit breaker. What do you want to see in it? Tell us in the comments below.
